Herb Anise leaves are used both in cooking and salads, with a strong unique flavour. Often used in making refreshing beverages (teas in winter and cool cordials in the summer) as well as cakes, soups and stews. Bushy plant up to 50cm in height. Herb Anise is a natural repellant of aphids, and often used as such by canny gardeners.

SOW:   2 weeks after expected last frost date. Anise requires a frost free 120 days to mature for harvest.

WHERE TO SOW:

Anise prefers full sun. Sow Anise thinly in 5mm deep rows 25cm apart. When seedlings are large enough to handle thin to 25cm apart. Keep well and evenly watered throughout the growing season, particularly just prior to harvest.  Sow Anise in its final location as it does not transplant well.
