Our Basil is the traditional variety used in Mediterranean cooking, and arises from the Genoa region of Italy. Used in tomato dishes and salads. Basil is an annual.
Sow & Harvest Dates:
Sow in March in trays undercover and transplant to small pots, or alternatively keep indoors on the kitchen window sill.
Growing Instructions:
Basil is a heat lover and very sensitive to frost. Best grown on the kitchen window sill with direct sunlight.
Almost fill seed tray or small pots with moist seed compost and sow seeds thinly on the surface. Lightly cover with compost and keep moist.
Seedlings and plants will require regular monthly feeding as an underfed basil plant has pale leaves.
Companion Plants:
Traditionally grown next to Tomato , Asparagus. Basil is a natural repellant of flies and mosquitoes.
