Marigold Pot is an annual, whose flower petals are used as a substitute colouring for Saffron in rice etc, and added fresh to salads. Also used medicinally, with an extraordinary history through the ages.

Sow thinly directly in the soil in the March. Sprinkle a thin layer of soil or compost over the seeds. Thin seedlings to 10cm apart when big enough to handle.

Valued by the Romans for its medicinal and culinary properties, Calendula was also prized by the Egyptians for its properties of rejuvenation and healing. The Greeks revered its culinary aspects and in the medieval period it was thought to cure just about everything.
