Herb Thyme English Winter (Thymus vulgaris) is a perennial, also known as Common or Garden Thyme. Used extensively for seasoning and stuffings.
This variety has dark green broad leaves and is a basic ingredient of bouquet garni. Thyme leaves and stems are indispensable in flavouring soups, stews, sauces, stuffing or in beef, pork, lamb or chicken dishes. An essential in any herb garden.
SOW OUTSIDE: Two weeks after last average frost date, or when soil has warmed to 70 degrees.
SOW INSIDE: 8 weeks before last frost
WHERE TO SOW:
Thyme is a very fine seed, and is sown on the surface of trays of moist seed compost. It's a good idea to mix the seeds with sand to make it easier. Keep moist with a fine spray. When seedlings are about 5cm tall, plant out about 15cm between each plants.
