Lettuce Salad Bowl Red is often called Oak leaf type. It has attractive large heads with many serrated dark red leaves for individual picking.

SOW:  March to July

HARVEST:  ready for cutting 8-10 weeks after sowing


WHERE TO SOW:

Early sowings under glass at 13C either in trays or modules. Later sowings direct in growing site in drills 2cm deep, 30cm between rows.

WHAT TO DO NEXT:

Early sowings should be thinned as they grow to 5cm apart, modules thinned to single seedlings to a cell and hardened off quickly before planting out 30cm apart each way. Thin outdoor sowings to 30cm apart

HANDY TIP:  the attractive plants with light green centres and red outer leaves can look just as good used in a flower garden.
