WHERE TO SOW:

Early sowings direct into the growing site 1cm deep. October sowings should be made in a cold frame.

WHAT TO DO NEXT:

Thin out the seedlings in early Spring until 20cm apart. Plants raised in cold frame need only be thinned to 20cm until the Spring when they can be thinned again and the extra seedlings planted outside.

HANDY TIP:   Can also be sown very early in the year in cold frame and planted out as soon as conditions allow for slightly later cropping.

NUTRITIONAL VALUE:   A good source of antioxidants such as beta-carotene, lutein and vitamin C as well as vitamin K.
