Onion Bedfordshire Champion, a great all round variety. Large globe shaped golden brown bulbs with excellent keeping qualities but can be susceptible to downy mildew.

WHERE TO SOW:
Early sowings in trays under glass at 14°C, only lightly covering with compost. Later sowings in the growing site 1cm deep in rows 30cm apart.
WHAT TO DO NEXT:
Glasshouse seedlings should be pricked off into trays when about 15cm tall, 5cm apart. Harden off and plant in growing site 15cm apart in early April. Outdoor sowings should be thinned in two stages until spacings of 15cm between plants is achieved.
HANDY TIPS: Pull the thinnings carefully and remove from the site to avoid attracting onion fly. Thinnings can be used as salad onions.
NUTRITIONAL VALUE: Antibacterial and Antiseptic properties, due to beneficial sulphur compounds. A good source of antioxidants, such as quercetin and anthocyanin.
