Onion Simane is a maincrop red skinned variety which produces elongated pinky red bulbs with an outstanding sweet flavour. Continental type very popular in France and Southern Europe. Perfect as a raw slicer. A wonderfully evocative taste of France.
Sow & Harvest Dates: Sow weekly from March - April. Crops after 22 weeks.
Growing Information:
Sow very thinly in 1.5cm deep drills, leaving about 25 cm between rows.
Thin seedlings in stages to about 10cm - thinnings to be removed to avoid Onion Fly attack.
Tips: Closer spacing results in smaller onions than larger spacing. Make sure are well dried before storing. Remove dead leaves before storing.
